Learn continuously and publish what was learned, including the assessments that are unflattering to positions the office holds.
Research here means publishing the method with the finding. The estate’s assessments — worlds scored against six conditions, robots against a rubric, ventures against four — all ship the scale, the date and the scores together, which lets a reader move the weights and reach a different answer honestly. A ranking without its rubric is an opinion in a table.
It also means being the source for definitions rather than restating other people’s. Where a definition belongs to another property in the estate, a page links it rather than repeating it, and a test fails any page that restates a definition it does not own. Thirteen paraphrases of one idea is thirteen sources and no authority.
What it refuses
A conclusion with no method behind it. Where this office scores something — a virtual world, a robot, a property — the rubric is published first and the scores are dated, so the reader can reweight them and disagree with a number rather than with a mood.
Where it is practised
The group publishes scored assessments of the fields it invests in, and states the score when it is low.
